Peer review workflow in development; submissions opening soon

Video papers — combining visual and narrated presentation — offer a new way to communicate scientific research. By making complex concepts more accessible, they can support interdisciplinary exchange and help the wider research community better understand, reproduce, and build on published results. Clear demonstrations of experimental setups, protocols, and methodologies address a recognised limitation of text-only publication formats.

SciViD is an emerging open-access publishing platform for video-based scientific communication. We are currently establishing our editorial and peer-review framework and will open submissions across a developing portfolio of video-oriented research journals.

Once submissions open, manuscripts will undergo editorial assessment followed by a structured peer-review process. Accepted manuscripts will receive editorial guidance on both scientific content and visual presentation, to help authors communicate their work with clarity and precision.

SciViD is also exploring new models of academic publishing, including multimedia-enhanced articles and author incentive structures, with the aim of bridging traditional scholarly communication and digital media formats.

EDITORIAL INTEGRITY & ACADEMIC STANDARDS

To protect the integrity of the review process, SciViD will apply the following standards once its peer-review workflow becomes operative:

  • Independent peer review. Manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review conducted by external reviewers holding a doctoral degree or equivalent research standing, with no role in the manuscript's preparation.

  • Conflict-of-interest management. Manuscripts on which Founder and Editor-in-Chief Prof. Alexander Solovev is an author, co-author, or has a supervisory or advisory relationship with the authors will be assigned to an Independent Section Editor from the Editorial Board; Prof. Solovev will recuse himself from the final decision on these manuscripts.

  • Auditable process. Once the peer-review workflow is operative, reviews will be administered through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, maintaining a traceable record of each manuscript's review history.

WELCOME TO SCIVID: THE PUBLISHER OF SCIENTIFIC VIDEO JOURNALS

SciViD is an emerging open-access publishing platform dedicated to transforming how research is communicated. With a peer-review framework currently in development, SciViD combines scientific rigor with structured video presentation to make complex protocols more accessible, transparent, and reproducible for researchers, educators, and students worldwide.

WHAT MAKES SCIVID UNIQUE

  • Visual Precision: SciViD enables authors to present experimental procedures, data acquisition, and simulations through structured visual formats, helping ensure that methodological details are communicated clearly enough to support reproducibility.

  • Method-Centered Publication: SciViD emphasizes the "how" of science — transparent, reproducible methodologies across disciplines including physics, chemistry, biology, and engineering.

  • Open & Accessible: SciViD is being developed as an open-access platform, with no article processing charges during the initial phase, to reduce barriers to scientific communication.

  • Academic Integrity Framework (In Development): Submissions undergo editorial assessment; a structured peer-review process is being established as the platform and reviewer network grow.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Scope: SciViD's coverage spans the physical, biological, and engineering sciences, including areas such as microfluidics, nanotechnology, data science, and complex systems
